Honoring Coach Adolph F. Rupp, the winningest coach in college basketball, whose boyhood home was Halstead, Kansas.

Adolph F. Rupp
"Baron of Basketball"

Born and raised in Halstead, Kansas (Sept 2, 1901).

Retired with 876 wins. Most wins in NCAA History.

Member of the 1922 and 1923 teams at Kansas University that won the Helms Foundation National Championships (coach Forest Allen).

Head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats for 42 seasons with a compiled winning percentage of 82%.

A Note from Coach Gerber of Halstead, Kansas

The Halstead Dragons enter the 2005 Rupp Tournament 8-2, but in this tough field, that is only good for a 3rd seed. The parity of the 35th edition of the tournament is as good as ever. We hope to compete well, however, and have been working hard to achieve that goal.

Rupp Tournament time is always a special time of the year for the Dragon boys basketball team. Hosting these schools is very enjoyable and we marvel at the talent and class of so many different teams. We respect the past, both in terms of the legacy of Adolph Rupp, and the traditions and players that have been a part of thirty-five years of basketball. We are looking forward to a great week of basketball!

Come be part of our basketball heritage at the Adolph Rupp Invitational Tournament!
