Cheney High School

Cheney High School is a 3A member of the Central Plains League. They enter the Rupp Tourney with a 7-2 record and the 3rd seed.

The basketball team is led by nine seniors: Brent Coykendall, Scotty Hiebert, Tervor Kramer, Garrett Nikkel, Patrick O’Brien, D.J. Prentice, Ross Scheer, Jakob Schomacker, and Aaron Young. Other members of the tournament squad are juniors: Justin Hickey, Chase Williams, and Nate Wulf.

The basketball team looks forward to the Rupp Tourney each season. The competition and quality of teams make for a great mid season test of the team’s progress.

Cheney has participated in the Rupp tournament since its beginning stages, claiming titles in 1977, 1978, and 2005. We enjoy the competitive basketball, enthusiastic atmosphere and the Halstead hospitality, not only from school officials but the fans of the tournament that appreciate good basketball. All of these make it one of the top tournaments in the state.
