The Independent School - Wichita, Kansas

First of all thanks to the Halstead community, Halstead High School, and “The Rupp.”

Our team is made up of quality young men, and it is a pleasure coaching them. I knew coming into the season we were going to work hard and improve throughout the year, and that has been the case. We started the season with only one returning starter, and only two seniors. With such a young team we have had to work hard to learn a new offensive system, and develop a new identity. Nevertheless we have won three and lost five, with all five losses coming to very quality opponents; including Garden Plain, Holcomb, Tribune, Wichita Trinity, and Belle Plaine.

It is challenging enough playing in the Central Plains League, let alone coming to “The Rupp," and having to face the likes of Rose Hill, Andale, Halstead, Haven, and Inman. (Cheney and Garden Plain are in our league.)

It is definitely exciting for our payers to get an opportunity to play in such a great tournament with tremendous history behind it. It is also very special and exciting for me personally to be coaching in such a great tournament. Not just because of the mystique and history behind the tournament, but also because Halstead’s head coach Joe Gerber and I were teammates at Cowley County Community College.

This is our fourth year to play in "The Rupp" tournament.
