Garden Plain vs Moundridge (Fri. Jan. 22nd, 2009)
Game two Thursday night was the 4A Garden Plain Owls taking on the 2A Moundridge Wild Cats.
Moundridge found themselves at a disadvantage losing starter Austin Neufeld with an ankle injury incurred at an earlier practice. The Wild Cats came out fighting hard against the Owls. The first half found Trey Unrau and Jayson Kaufman doing all of the scoring except for two points by Lance Loganbill.
The Owls found points scattered among five of their players giving them a halftime lead 25 to 17. Moundridge kept the score very close until the last minute of the half when the Owls made a run gaining an eight point lead.
The second half of play found the Owls depth of players too much for the Wild Cats. The Cats battled but could not ever tie the score in the second half. The Owls only score two regular buckets in the fourth quarter compared to the Wild Cats 18 points, but the Owls made all 12 of 13 at the free throw line.
Final: Owls 55, Wild Cats 43
